NTC Holiday Party and Toys for Tots Drive

The Nashville Triathlon Club will hold its annual holiday party at the Dwell at McEwen clubhouse on Friday, December 7th at 6:00 PM.  The club will provide food and non-alcoholic beverages. For additional merriment, please BYOB your adult beverage preferences. Club announcements will be made at 7:30. Uniforms and club merchandise will be available for purchase.

The NTC’s 2012 charitable organization will be Toys For Tots to which the club will be donating a bike and other sports related gifts. If you would like to participate, please bring an unwrapped children’s toy to donate. The club will be delivering all of the gifts to the Toys for Tots program on behalf of the club and our members.

The Toys for Tots program was founded in 1947 by Colonel William L. Hendricks and his wife, Diane, who hand made a doll and asked him to deliver it to a needy child at Christmas. Upon discovering that there was no such organization, Diane suggested that he start one and that is what he did. Sixty-five years later, the Toys for Tots program is still going strong with nearly 16 million toys distributed to more than 7 million children during the 2011 holiday season.*
